I just got my order of spoon bits from the Eltang shop in Denmark. With theese bits I can now Shape the briar then drill after the shape has mostly been formed. This is done by holding the block in my hand and pushing it towards the spinning spoon bit that is chucked on my lathe. For my sytle of new pipes I think this method will be a great fit. Check back soon for pictures of the bits and some new pipes i'm almost done with.

It's been awhile but I have some pictures now. Mike Gibbs a friend of mine really did a great job. To see them click on my pipes.The red apple and coral wave are shop pipes not that there anything really wrong with them but they were done more for as a study than as a actual finished product. Each of these pipes really helped me focus on details, mostly in the line work but in the overall shapes as well. I will be doing some other coral and or smooth waves in the future.
